## Summary

The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) has initiated a tender process for the contract titled "01814 Maintenance of Generators, Uninterruptible Power Suppliers and Fuel Cleaning Services for SPS". This procurement falls under the services industry category, specifically focusing on repair and maintenance services for generators and related equipment. The contract will cover maintenance across all 16 SPS sites in the UK, including prisons and administrative centres, with the procurement method specified as an open procedure. Contracts will be awarded for an initial period of three years, with an optional three-year extension. Key dates include the contract award signed on 1 March 2021, with a total contract value of £378,000 for two lots dedicated to different aspects of generator maintenance.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in generator maintenance, engineering services, or fuel management, particularly those with experience in the public sector. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will find this procurement particularly accessible, as five bids from SMEs were received for each lot. Companies competent in technical compliance and proficient in delivering quality maintenance and repair services would be well-suited to compete effectively for this contract, supporting the ongoing operational efficiency of crucial infrastructure within the SPS network.

## Notice

The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) requires a contract for the maintenance of generators, oil storage tanks and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). This equipment is required to be fully tested and operate at maximum efficiency in the event of a loss of power within establishments. The contract will also cover fuel cleaning services to support the upkeep of generators across the SPS estate. The core services are planned preventative and reactive/remedial maintenance of generators, oil storage tanks and UPS, as well as the provision of replacement parts. There is a variety of manufacturers represented in SPS' current equipment profile. A new national contract will act as the focal point for the statutory maintenance, inspection, testing and certification of equipment. This will ensure SPS continues to meet statutory compliance obligations in addition to the efficient and safe operation of the equipment to be maintained. The contract will cover all 16 SPS sites: 13 directly managed prisons, a college (SPSC), central stores and an administrative headquarters at Calton House to support the operations of the prisons. The contract will be split into the following lots: Lot 1 - Maintenance of Standby Generators and Oil Storage Tanks; and Lot 2 - Maintenance of Uninterrupted Power Supplies. Any contract(s) awarded will be for an initial 3 years with an optional extension period of up to 3 years.
