## Summary

The procurement process involves Food Standards Scotland (FSS) aiming to commission a service for the secondary analysis of data from the 2018 pilot of Intake24 as part of their health monitoring efforts. This tender, titled "Secondary Analysis of Data from 2018 Pilot of Intake24 in SHeS," is classified under the services industry, specifically focusing on feasibility studies, advisory services, and analysis. The procurement method is limited, and the award process was conducted without a prior call for competition due to the extreme urgency surrounding the project. The contract, valued at £50,000, was signed on 1 February 2021, with deliverables expected to be fulfilled between December 2020 and March 2021, with the project being based in Aberdeen, Scotland.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses in the fields of data analysis, public health research, and advisory services. Organisations with expertise in dietary monitoring and data processing, particularly those capable of providing in-depth analysis and insights, would be well-positioned to compete for contracts similar to this one. The requirement for quality service and the considerable focus on analytical expertise suggest that firms with a proven track record in health-related projects and collaboration with academic institutions may find particularly lucrative opportunities in this arena.

## Notice

FSS wish to commission Secondary Analysis of Data from the pilot of Intake24 in the 2018 SHeS in order to refine the dietary intake analysis model (to ensure that the data processing is standardised for dietary monitoring going forwards), and to drill further into the data, to explore further detail of dietary behaviours.

### Procurement Information

Newcastle University developed Intake24 to measure population dietary intakes in Scotland. They have, worked with ScotCen on a field test and pilot and have carried out the dietary analysis to date. As the originators, they understand the processes behind the collection and analysis of the data. They have prepared the report of the pilot survey and published a number of peer-reviewed publications on Intake24. Their work on the surveys has been selected as an example from Newcastle University for the UK Research Excellence Framework. They hold the dataset at present and have capacity to work on this project from Dec 20 to Mar 21. This project will ensure that the data will be publically archived once analysis is complete.
