## Summary

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority is seeking to finalise a contract valued at £11,000,000 for services related to Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) of Plutonium powders. This procurement falls under the research and experimental development services category and is located in the United Kingdom. The buying organisation intends to engage the National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) for the procurement, installation, and testing of HIP equipment, with an anticipated future contract for operation at NNL’s Central Laboratory in Sellafield. The procurement process began with an initiation type described as a tender, and the contract was signed on 1 March 2021.

This project presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in research, development, and specialised engineering services, particularly those with expertise in handling radioactive materials and decommissioning technologies. Companies offering consultancy services, waste management, and feasibility studies related to nuclear applications would be well-positioned to compete for future contracts stemming from this procurement process, particularly as NNL aims to explore various options for the UK civil plutonium stockpile.

## Notice

This requirement is for the following: The development of incorporation of Plutonium powders using Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) technology. The powders are located at Sellafield Limited, and the NNL's Central Laboratory facility on the site is the only location where appropriate samples can be obtained. NDA wish to engage NNL to procure equipment for the HIP process, install and test it off-site, with the intention of installing and operating the equipment in the Central Laboratory under a future contract.
