### Procurement Information

The Department currently owns 23 weather stations which have been purchased from Vaisala. Since Vaisala are the original manufacturers of the various elements making up the various weather stations, only they can currently provide the management and maintenance that is required for these stations without considerable cost to the Department of replacing the stations or at least replacing many of the separate elements which go to make up a weather station. Regulation 32 (2) (b) (ii) of the Public Contract Regulations 2015 enables contracting authorities to award public contracts by a negotiated procedure without prior publication where the services can be supplied only by a particular economic operator for technical reasons
