### Procurement Information

Mediqal Health Informatics Limited have exclusive rights over the EMed Renal systems and are the sole source for support, maintenance, and licenses. Access to EMed is essential for ongoing service delivery providing life-saving treatments for dialysis patients, safe and effective care for kidney transplant patients, and ensuring timely and effective clinical decision making and communication during post-transplant care. The system has been identified as a system which is within scope, and impacted by the Encompass procurement programme. This contract is required to cover the transitional period until Encompass is implemented as a short-term replacement is not a feasible alternative, since such a replacement would require significant disruption and disproportionate technical difficulties, which would impact on the ability of the Trust to provide critical health services. The wider market was already consulted and engaged as part of the Encompass procurement. The absence of competition is not a result of the artificial narrowing of the parameters of the procurement.
