## Summary

The University of Strathclyde recently conducted an unsuccessful tender process for the supply and delivery of high-temperature materials, specifically Molybdenum-Hafnium-Carbon (MHC), intended for the manufacture of an isothermal die stack. This procurement, classified under the metal ores and alloys category, took place in Glasgow, UK, and adhered to an open procedure method. Although the award stage concluded in April 2021, the tender status is noted as unsuccessful, signalling that no contracts were awarded. The requirements included providing materials capable of withstanding temperatures between 1080°C and 1200°C in a vacuum environment, with specific dimensions detailed in the tender documentation.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in high-temperature materials, particularly those experienced in manufacturing metal alloys suited for industrial applications. Companies that can meet rigorous quality standards and have the capability to deliver customised materials for high-tech sectors, such as aerospace or manufacturing, would be well-suited to compete in future opportunities from the University of Strathclyde and similar institutions. This is an ideal market for suppliers looking to expand their offerings in advanced materials and metalworking sectors.

## Notice

The University require a supplier to provide Molybdenum-Hafnium-Carbon (MHC). This material is for the manufacture of an isothermal die stack capable of operating within an isothermal vacuum chamber at a temperature of 12000C with loads of up to 2000 ton.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The University require a supplier to provide Molybdenum-Hafnium-Carbon (MHC) for the manufacture of an isothermal die stack. This material supplied must take the form of a Molybdenum based alloy which can withstand and be capable of operating within a temperature range of 10800C and 12000C in a vacuum or inert gas atmosphere. The material must be supplied in the forged and stress relieved condition. The material must not be recrystallized. The material supplied by the appointed supplier must be provided to set dimensions which are detailed within the specification.

Options: The Contracting Authority reserves the right to request additional deliveries by the Successful Tenderer, either intended as partial replacement of supplies or installations or as extensions of existing supplies and installations. The Contracting Authority may at it's sole discretion exercise this option.
