## Summary

The County Durham Mental Health and Wellbeing Alliance contract has been awarded by Durham County Council, focusing on health and social work services. The procurement method utilised was selective, employing a procedure involving negotiations under the Light Touch Regime designed for social and other specific services. The contract is set to commence on 1st April 2022 and spans 84 months, with an option for a 36-month extension. The total value of the contract is approximately £23.2 million, aimed at co-producing and delivering support services for individuals with mental health needs in the County Durham region. The tender period ended on 8th June 2021.

This contract presents significant opportunities for companies in the health and social care sector, particularly those specialising in mental health services, social support, and wellbeing initiatives. Businesses that can provide innovative, community-focused solutions and possess experience in partnering with local authorities or NGOs would be ideally positioned to compete. Additionally, any firms that can deliver effective outreach programmes and integrate services across departments may find this procurement appealing, as the project aims to enhance resilience and overall mental wellbeing in the community.

## Notice

The aim of the Alliance is to co-produce, co-ordinate and provide a range of support services for people with mental health needs. The Alliance will provide support to people to become independent and, where possible, prevent the need for social care services along with support to step down from services, by providing the right support at the right time. The service will need to promote wellbeing as a concept to individuals in order to build resilience and help keep individuals mentally, emotionally, and physically well. The service should sign-post or support individuals to take part in activities that promote wellbeing. The Alliance will include the providers and commissioners and will help improve access to information and support, remove the barriers between services and departments, improve and strengthen partnership working and further integrate care and health services.
