## Summary

The procurement process is being conducted by the NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership on behalf of the Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board for the acquisition of a Next Generation Sequencing Panel intended for the analysis of somatic samples in the healthcare sector. This tender, classified under the CPV code for laboratory reagents, is currently in the Award stage, following its initial tender initiation in March 2021. The process concluded with a contract awarded to Illumina Cambridge Ltd, valued at £10,768,696.40, with significant delivery requirements specified for the All Wales Medical Genomics Laboratory located in Cardiff, UK.

This procurement presents substantial growth opportunities for businesses specialising in laboratory reagents and genomic technology solutions. Companies with expertise in developing and supplying advanced sequencing platforms, particularly those capable of handling both DNA and RNA workflows, would be well-positioned to compete in this market. The ongoing advancement in genomic testing necessitates suppliers who can align their products with clinical requirements, and therefore, firms focusing on innovative biotechnology and healthcare solutions should take note of such tender announcements.

## Notice

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership-Procurement Services (hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust) on behalf of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board are looking to procurement a somatic NGS testing platform with a single workflow for both DNA and RNA library preparation. It must be a targeted panel of at least 500 genes for the DNA component and 50 genes for the RNA component which are of clinical relevance to comprehensive cancer genomic profiling (including both current and future clinically actionable genes and those associated with clinical trials).

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The All Wales Medical Genomics Laboratory (AWMGL) recently received an uplift in funding to enable the delivery of equitable testing for patients in Wales to patients in England who are eligible for tests detailed in the Genomics England National Genomics Test Directory for Cancer, thus, supporting AWMGL to work with Welsh clinicians to align services to the Test Directory. To enable successful alignment it is essential that the laboratory expands their services that are offered to those that are indicated as essential services in the Genomics England National Genomics Test Directory for Cancer 2020/2021 (https://www.england.nhs.uk/publication/national-genomic-test-directories/). To meet the service needs, AWMGL are looking to purchase a new DNA and RNA based single targeted somatic testing panel of at least 500 genes of clinical relevance to comprehensive cancer genomic profiling (including both current and future clinically actionable genes and those associated with clinical trials).
