## Summary

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, has completed a procurement process for the title "Service & Maintenance of Tugs." This contract falls under the category of repair and maintenance services, specifically for vehicles, and is located in the United Kingdom. The procurement method used was a limited award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition. The contract, valued at £774,144, was signed on 4 December 2020 to address increased workload pressures on the Capital, Asset and Facilities department of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Effective from that date, the interim contract includes an option for a one-year extension as a formal tender exercise is underway for replacing the fleet of Tugs.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for businesses specialising in maintenance and repair services related to vehicle operations, particularly those with experience in servicing emergency equipment and health sector vehicles. Companies equipped to manage urgent service requirements and those familiar with the specific operational needs within the NHS would find themselves in a strong position to compete for future tenders in this area. Additionally, as the tender process transitions to a more formalised contract for replacing the tug fleet, suppliers that demonstrate capacity for innovation and compliance with health sector standards may benefit from long-term partnerships with the NHS.

## Notice

It is essential to the Health Board's that these vehicles and equipment is maintained and operating correctly. Sourcing this requirement from an alternative supplier would require training, onsite visits and service would be disrupted, in addition due to the age of the fleet the service is currently drafting a specification and seeking funding for the replacement of the tugs. The value of this contract is indicative the Health Board will not fully utilise or exceed the value.
