## Summary

The Coventry City Council (CCC) is conducting a procurement process for the "COV - Organic and Inert Waste" contract, classified under refuse disposal and treatment (CPV code: 90510000). This active tender aims to secure services for the collection and disposal of household waste across Coventry. The procurement method utilised is an open procedure, and the contract is set to commence on 6th September 2021, running until 5th September 2024, with the possibility of a 12-month extension. The Council specifically seeks suppliers located within 10 road miles or a drive time of 35 minutes from CV3 4AR to facilitate efficient waste processing.

This tender offers substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in waste management and environmental services, particularly those capable of handling inert waste, food waste, and garden waste. Potential bidders may include small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as larger firms with the capacity to manage multiple lots under a multi-supplier framework. The ability to provide competitive pricing and comply with local operational requirements will be crucial for suppliers looking to secure contracts within this framework.

Food Waste

Coventry City Council (CCC) and Solihull Metropolitan Borough council (SMBC) do not currently undertake dedicated food waste collections. It is possible that in the future a dedicated food waste collection may be implemented for household's by CCC and SMBC. The site must have the ability and capacity to accept food waste from an individual or both authorities at any time during the contract period. However, at this stage no such plans have been confirmed but could be required during the term of this contract. If a separate food waste collection service is implemented collections could be fortnightly or weekly for up to 52 weeks per year and would reduce the amount of waste that would be disposed of through the commingled food and garden waste contract. Recycling Methods and licencesThe Council may consider appointing a supplier(s) who has a site which is not yet operational, but which does have a licence granted and the necessary planning approval in place. Should this lot be required, licences and accreditation should be in place prior to deliveries commencing and would need to remain in place for the remainder of the contract. The Council would give the successful supplier(s) a notice period of at least 3 months on commencement of deliveries.
