This pilot is for a 2 year period with the potential to extend, and will be aimed at increasing the uptake of 100% electric, zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) taxis in Wales. ### Lot Information Lot 1 The purchase of up to 15 zero Emission 100% electric Vehicle wheelchair-accessible (WAV) taxis for the Cardiff Clean Air Taxi WAV Lease Scheme. These vehicles will be made available to the existing Cardiff licensed taxi industry to lease. This pilot is for a 2 year period with the potential to extend, and will be aimed at increasing the uptake of 100% electric, zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) taxis in Wales. ### Procurement Information The works, supplies or services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason: absence of competition for technical reasons. Welsh Government has set a target of de-carbonising Wales' taxi and private hire vehicle (PHV) by 2028.In order to meet this target the purchase of 15 100% electric ZEV taxis, using WG funding, is required for Cardiff to initiate a 'Try Before You Buy' pilot scheme for taxi drivers. The specification for the vehicles has been directed by WG with the aim of being London compliant; 100% electric with side access for safety.The Nissan Dynamo is the only 100% electric, London compliant, side access vehicle currently on the market that meets the WG specification and comes closest to the licensing of vehicles requirements. In order to be confident that Nissan Dynamo Taxis is the only acceptable supplier that can meet all three requirements, confirmation has been received by WG, Cenex, and Energy Trust (on behalf of the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership).
