## Summary

The Ministry of Defence has completed a procurement process for the contract titled "Probabilistic Risk Assessment Model Laser Safety Support," valued at £1,675,201. This tender falls under the category of Research and Development services specifically related to security and defence materials. The procurement method was limited, employing an award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition, due to the unique technical capabilities required for this project. The award status is active, with Leonardo Ltd being the sole supplier, which reflects the project's highly specialised nature. The contract was signed on 21 May 2021 and is associated with the defence sector's ongoing needs.

This contract presents significant growth opportunities for businesses involved in high-tech research and development, particularly those with capabilities in laser safety and risk assessment models. Although this specific tender has been awarded to Leonardo Ltd, businesses specialising in advanced engineering, defence technology, or those that can provide innovative solutions in safety and security might find future tenders arising from similar projects advantageous. Engagement with the Ministry of Defence could be beneficial for firms looking to expand their portfolio within the defence and security landscape.
