### Procurement Information

Preparation for a contract of this size and complexity has a long lead time of around 3 years, therefore the Covid-19 pandemic has caused an unavoidable diversion of Health Board resources across Labs disciplines, Finance and Procurement. A 12 month extension will therefore allow time to prepare for the longer term re-tender. This is a reasonable and proportionate step in order to maintain a critical clinical service whilst balancing this against our legal duty to expose the requirement to full, open competition in due course.
