## Summary

The Medicines Discovery Catapult (MDC) is initiating a planned tender for laboratory equipment as part of its investment in innovative diagnostics and therapeutics, aimed at enhancing the UK's onshore diagnostic capability. The project, which forms part of the Translational Research for Infectious Diseases (TRFID) initiative, is based in Cheshire, UK. Interested parties should note that the future notice is set for 31 August 2021, and this preliminary information notice (PIN) indicates that the procurement will follow a streamlined process to potentially reduce submission periods, although specific deadlines for tenders are yet to be established.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses engaged in supplying laboratory, optical, and precision equipment. Companies specialising in medical technology, diagnostics, biopharmaceuticals, and related sectors would be well-positioned to compete for contracts linked to the TRFID facility. As each item on the equipment list may require individual invitations to tender, this is an excellent opening for suppliers to demonstrate their innovative solutions and contribute to advancing public health initiatives in the UK.

## Notice

Medicines Discovery Catapult (MDC) is a national facility for collaborative R&D exploring and developing new approaches to the discovery and proof of well targeted medicines, diagnostics and biomarkers. Funded by Innovate UK, an agency of the UK government, MDC are an independent not-for-profit company bringing together a fragmented UK sector of industry, academia, charities, technologists, services, finance companies, SMEs and start-ups who together can turn good science into new, high value products. By sharing problems, rare expertise and assets we support the growth of this new community through a time of radical business and national change. Capitalising on the success of the Lighthouse Laboratory to create a new facility for innovative diagnostics, biomarkers and complex medicines and develop the UK's onshore diagnostic capability and capacity and the associated supply chain - Translational Research for Infectious Diseases (TRFID). The project will create a national facility for testing and validation of new diagnostics, biomarkers and innovative therapeutics for disease. This prior information notice (PIN) is a signal of future intentions to the marketplace regarding the procurement of equipment for the TRFID facility. This PIN is not a call for competition. By publishing this PIN, MDC may avail itself of the opportunity to reduce the submission period from 30 days (with electronic submission) to 15 days (if the PIN has been published for at least 35 days and no longer than 12 months). A list of the equipment that may be required is attached with this PIN. Please note that this list may change as requirements are altered. It is appreciated that new items cannot be added to the list, but it may be the case that some items are removed following review. It is envisaged that individual invitations to tender (ITT) exercises will be conducted for each of the elements identified on the list. This notice is for prior information. This notice aims at reducing time limits for receipt of tenders. PIN Questionnaire: https://procontract.due-north.com/RFx/RFxSummary?rfxId=e8bb934e-dbf5-eb11-810d-005056b64545
