## Summary

The Cambridge City Council has initiated a tender process for cleaning services specifically for the communal areas of council housing in the city. Classified under the CPV code for cleaning and sanitation services, this procurement is currently at the award stage. The contract, valued at £2,685,000, has a primary term of three years, with possibilities for extensions based on performance. The anticipated start date for the new contract is 1st April 2022, following the conclusion of the current contract on 31st March 2022. The procurement method employed is an open procedure, allowing a wide range of suppliers to submit their proposals.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in cleaning services, particularly those with experience in managing large-scale contracts within local authorities. Companies that can demonstrate value through a balance of competitive pricing and high-quality service standards will be well-positioned to compete. Additionally, suppliers should be prepared for the TUPE regulations that may affect employee transfers associated with the contract. Given the nature of the work and the potential for long-term contracts, small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) focused on facilities management would find this tender especially relevant.
