## Summary

The procurement process for the "Processing and Recycling of Kerbside Collected Household Waste" contract is being conducted by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council and Middlesbrough Council. This open tender is focused on refuse and waste-related services, with a total value of approximately £8 million, commencing on 1st April 2022 for an initial three-year period with two potential one-year extensions. The tender period ended on 12th October 2021, with bids required from suppliers registered via the NEPO Portal. Service delivery will primarily take place in South Teesside, covering around 128,000 households across both boroughs.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses engaged in waste management and recycling services, particularly those capable of processing mixed recyclables and non-target materials. Companies that are waste carriers or have experience in refuse recycling are well-suited to compete for this contract. The focus on improving recycling outcomes and supporting local authorities in their waste management objectives should appeal to small and medium-sized enterprises looking to expand their service offerings in the broader waste management sector.
