## Summary

The Luton Council is currently conducting an active tender titled "Electrical Support," aimed at establishing a framework for electrical support contractors. This procurement falls under the construction industry category and is focused on works related to electrical support, with a total value of £6,000,000. The procurement is currently in the tender stage, with submissions due by 15th October 2021. The effective contract period is set to begin on 1st April 2022, concluding on 31st March 2027. Bidders may compete for several defined lots, which include rewiring in residential homes and communal areas, making this opportunity relevant within the UKH21 delivery region.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in electrical work and construction services, particularly those capable of handling small to medium-sized projects and repairs. Firms that hold relevant certifications, such as the 18th edition qualifications, and those experienced in working within occupied properties will be well-suited to compete. The contracting structure allows for multiple suppliers, which encourages participation from a variety of contractors, including those offering niche repair services or looking to expand their project portfolios through mini bid competitions invoked by Luton Council.

## Notice

The purpose of this tender is to set up an Internal frame work of electrical support contractors with the view to award a primary provider for each lot on a reactive and small works basis and up to a maximum of 3 contingents to provide support as required by the council. A provider can bid for all or individual lots In addition to the standard lots detailed within this tender, there may also be the requirement for adhoc projects to be completed, It is the council's intention to utilise all winning providers (Primary and contingent for each lot) for mini bid competitions in this instance. There are no guaranteed volumes for all requirements on this contract at any time.

### Lot Information

Rewires

The council has an annual rewire program of its housing stock generated from the Councils asset data base on a cyclical basis or from failed ECIRs. The work will predominantly be carried out in occupied dwellings and any furniture, floor coverings etc will need to be moved by the contractor to gain access for cable runs. Dust from drilling etc should be kept to a minimum and cleared up immediately. Cables are not expected to be chopped into the wall but where trunking is used it should be fixed in corners of rooms, on top of skirting boards or adjacent to architraves and be clipped as per the regulations. Any making good should also be included. All work should be carried out to BS7671 and at least one operative with 18th edition qualifications should be on site at all times.

Kitchen rewires
