## Summary

The Ministry of Defence is set to award a contract for the provision of prototype Low Cost Laser Detector Systems (LCLDs) to Sentinel Photonics Limited. The contract, estimated to be valued at up to £2,000,000, is classified under military electronic systems within the goods procurement category. The procurement process is currently at the award stage, with the contract signed on 13 September 2021, and is conducted through a limited procurement method, specifically negotiated without prior publication of a contract notice. The delivery location for the items is Porton Down, Salisbury.

This procurement presents an opportunity for companies in the defence technology sector, particularly those specialising in research and development of prototype electronic systems. Businesses that have expertise in laser detection technologies and are capable of delivering under the specific regulatory frameworks for defence contracts would be well-suited to compete for similar future contracts. By engaging in such tenders, firms can enhance their capabilities and growth potential within the defence market.
