## Summary

The procurement process concerns the award of a contract titled "NSSCOVID-19 -336 National Vaccination Scheduling Operations Support" by the Common Services Agency, commonly known as NHS National Services Scotland (NSS). This initiative falls within the information technology services industry, specifically aimed at consulting, software development, and support. The contract has been awarded as part of an urgent response to the operational demands of the Scottish Health and Social Care sector amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, with the status currently active. The procurement method adopted was a limited procedure without prior publication due to extreme urgency, as the NSS required immediate operational support to aid the vaccination rollout in Scotland, with the contract amount totalling £300,000.

This tender represents a valuable opportunity for businesses specialising in IT services, particularly those with expertise in consulting, software development, and operational support related to healthcare. Given the urgent nature of the procurement, firms that can mobilise resources quickly and have familiarity with platforms like ServiceNow will find themselves in a strong position to compete. Such contracts create avenues for growth not only for large suppliers, like DXC, who have previously engaged with NSS, but also for innovative developers and service providers capable of delivering efficient solutions in response to public health needs.

## Notice

NSS was commissioned by Scottish Government to deliver the vaccination solution for citizens in Scotland to be able to view appointments, schedule and reschedule appointments. The Scottish Government request for accelerated rollout of vaccinations means that there is now insufficient capacity within the team to resource all demand. As a consequence, team members are working excessive hours, including evenings and weekends in attempt to cover. There was an immediate need to have additional operational support to be able to support the immediate vaccination rollout programme.
