### Procurement Information

No other reasonable alternative exists for this procurement and this service is critical to patient care and service delivery. This procurement is both essential and critical in supporting the long-term/optimum graft survival of renal transplant patients. A tender process that was delayed due to Covid19 commenced in September 2021 for this service, this procurement is required to cover the interim period until that process has completed. A replacement in the short-term is not a reasonable alternative as it would require extensive and robust validation and verification work in line with laboratory accreditation standards - UKAS ISO15189 that would result in significant disruption and disproportionate technical difficulties that would significantly impact on patient safety and the Trusts ability to deliver services. The absence of competition is not a result of the artificial narrowing of the parameters of the procurement.
