## Summary

Thames Water Utilities Limited is currently in the planning stage of a market engagement process titled "432254 Strategic Resource Options (SRO) Market Engagement". This initiative falls within the services category of architectural, construction, engineering, and inspection services, aiming to meet the challenges of water resource supply during droughts amidst environmental pressures. The engagement, which serves as a precursor to potential supplier involvement, has a deadline for responses set for 23 December 2021. Participation is open to all organisations, and responses must be submitted through the IASTA Smartsource platform, which provides additional details regarding access and submission procedures.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in construction work for water projects, engineering services, project management consultancy, and environmental services, as it aims to inform options for the setup of essential services to support strategic water resource management. Companies with expertise in these fields should consider engaging in this market process to potentially contribute to future procurement activities related to regional water supply options in England and Wales. Given the environmental implications and the strategic importance of resilient water supply, businesses can leverage this opportunity to align their services with emerging market needs driven by regulatory developments in the water sector.

## Notice

Meeting the water resource supply-demand balance to ensure resilient supplies during droughts is becoming ever more challenging with increasing pressures from climate change, population growth, societal expectations and increasing environmental aspirations. In response, OFWAT have established the Regulatory Alliance for Progressing Infrastructure Development (RAPID) an alliance of three water industry regulators: Ofwat, the Environment Agency and Drinking Water Inspectorate - to support and oversee the development of Strategic Resource Options to secure long-term resilience on behalf of customers while protecting the environment and benefiting wider society. These are intended to be construction ready between 2025-2030.' This Market Engagement is to help inform options for potential supply chain set up of services required to support strategic regional options currently being considered by Thames Water and partner water companies. Please see Section VI.3 Additional Information for access to the supplier information pack and process for submitting your responses through IASTA Smartsource.
