Working and funded in partnership with the NHS, this provision will ensure people continue to return home from hospital as soon as they are able to do so despite rising demand for services. To support hospital discharge throughout the County and meet the Councils statutory duty, it is vital that this provision is maintained. ### Procurement Information This contract has necessitated the the use of the negotiated procedure without prior publication of a call for competition due to the urgency of requiring the provision at extremely short notice. The provision supplied by the Provider has been guaranteed for immediate commencement, that would otherwise would not have been able to be achieved through regular procurement. The delay caused by procuring a service of this magnitude would have been considerable, and would not have met the requirement of an immediate start due to the nature of the service. A full procurement would have taken at least three months, following governance approval, and again further delay due to the mobilisation of such a contract by the Provider.
