## Summary

The procurement process pertains to the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which is seeking services for the "Cause and effect re-programme for the existing fire detection and alarm system". This project falls under the industry category of fire protection consultancy services, with a specific focus on reprogramming and reconfiguring their comprehensive fire detection system within a timeframe of 18 months. The procurement method employed is a limited tendering process, and the project was signed on 12 January 2022, with an overall contract value of £250,000. The work is expected to be conducted in a live environment at the Cambridge location.

This tender offers substantial opportunities for businesses focused on fire prevention and safety systems, particularly those with expertise in consultancy for large-scale fire detection and alarm system projects. Companies with experience in working within healthcare settings and a proven track record in managing complex systems would be well-positioned to compete for ongoing contracts in this high-demand sector. Given the nature of the project, suppliers like Swithland Systems LLP, who possess specialised skills and knowledge, highlight the competitive edge required in this tender.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The provision of an entire re-programme and reconfiguration of the Trust's entire fire detection and alarm system consisting of 91 Gent Vigilon panels, in a live environment within 18 months.

### Procurement Information

This is an ambitious project to provide an entire re-programme and reconfiguration of the Trust's entire fire detection and alarm system consisting of 91 Gent Vigilon panels, in a live environment within 18 months. These services will utilise a consultancy (Swithland Systems LLP) that have an uncommon skillset associated with the management of large, complex fire detection and alarm system configuration with experience in live healthcare environments. Given that the services involve a reprogramming of the entire fire detection and alarm system and by necessity requires consistency of approach and allocation of system resources, the project cannot readily be divided into smaller packages, or shared amongst several parties. Against this backdrop, and based upon the advice of the Trust's independent consultant Fire Authorising Engineer, the Trust believes Swithland Systems LLP to be the only company with the necessary skills and expertise capable of providing these specialist consultancy services within the required timescales.
