## Summary

The University of Nottingham has completed a procurement process for the provision of state-of-the-art electron cameras to enhance research capabilities in the Nanoscale and Microscale Research Centre. The tender, titled "1717- Electron Cameras", falls under the goods category and aims to establish a contract with qualified suppliers for the installation of specialized equipment. The main procurement method used was an open procedure, with an estimated whole-life cost being a critical consideration. The tender was awarded on 20th May 2022, with the contract valued at £1,070,241.

This procurement opportunity by The University of Nottingham presents a chance for suppliers with expertise in electron microscopes and specialist optical instruments to contribute to cutting-edge research projects. Businesses experienced in providing high-tech equipment and solutions for scientific investigations would be well-suited to compete in this tender. The tender process included a detailed selection criteria and award criteria, offering a transparent approach for suppliers to participate and potentially expand their business through collaboration with the University.

## Notice

The University requests tenders from sufficiently experienced and qualified Suppliers to establish a contract for the provision of a pair of state-of-the-art, direct detection and high-performance electron cameras (DD-EC and HP-EC), to be installed on two existing transmission electron microscopes (Jeol 2100F and 2100Plus), along with scanning TEM (STEM) diffraction system control, and an associated high-tilt, cryo-transfer holder (HT-CTH), to create a new research capability for correlated morphological and molecular dynamic investigations. Effective workflow is critical for the realisation of the many challenging projects to be enabled by this complementary equipment, to be housed within the Nanoscale and Microscale Research Centre (nmRC; http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/nmrc/) at the University of Nottingham (UoN). Hence, user experience and data-handling solutions for correlative investigations are of high importance. Estimated whole life cost is also an important consideration.
