## Summary

The University of Plymouth has completed a procurement process for the purchase of imaging equipment specifically designed for medical and veterinary use, titled "Purchase of IVIS Lumina." This tender falls under the goods category and is classified as CPV 33110000. It was conducted through a limited procurement method, with the award decision made on 16 March 2022. The equipment, crucial for assessing and measuring tumour size in mouse models, is to be delivered to Plymouth, Devon (UKK41). Given the unique specifications required, the procurement was executed without prior publication of a call for competition.

This opportunity presents significant potential for businesses specialising in advanced imaging technologies and biomedical equipment. Companies that can provide highly sensitive optical imager systems, along with comprehensive technical support services, would be particularly well-suited to compete in future tenders of this nature. With the awarded contract valued at £185,282, there is considerable scope for suppliers who can demonstrate both innovation and dependability in delivering specialised equipment to academic institutions and research facilities.

## Notice

The equipment required is an optical imager for the assessment and measurement of tumour size in a mouse model of brain tumours. The equipment should be highly sensitive with the capacity to detect a luciferase-derived bio-luminescent (or GFP-) signal with a background subtraction capability for minimising auto-fluorescence with spectral un-mixing capacity.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The equipment required is an optical imager for the assessment and measurement of tumour size in a mouse model of brain tumours. The equipment should be highly sensitive with the capacity to detect a luciferase-derived bio-luminescent (or GFP-) signal with a background subtraction capability for minimising auto-fluorescence with spectral un-mixing capacity. The equipment should be compatible with an isoflurane anaesthesia set up, also have a heated stage for small animal use. The supplying company should also be in a position to deliver a full service contract for the equipment at the University and provide full technical support. Due to this being unique to this supplier, hence the reason for the award without prior publication.

### Procurement Information

This piece of equipment is unique to PerkinElmer and therefore we are unable to undertake a competitive process. Letter of sole manufacture and distribution has been provided.
