## Summary

The University of Birmingham has completed a procurement process for the upgrade of its High Voltage protection and monitoring system, a project categorised under high voltage installation work. The procurement was initiated as a limited tender, specifically negotiated without the publication of a contract notice, due to the requirement for technical specifications that only Schneider Electric Limited could fulfil. The contract was signed on 16 March 2022 with a total value of £268,307, primarily located at the University of Birmingham's Edgbaston site in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

This procurement presents opportunities for businesses in the electrical engineering and installation sectors, specifically those capable of delivering bespoke systems that meet stringent technical requirements. Companies that specialise in high voltage equipment upgrades, systems integration, and those with proven experience in working with Schneider Electric products would be particularly well-suited to pursue similar contracts in the future. Engaging with such tenders can significantly contribute to business growth by tapping into specialised public sector projects.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The Universities current electrical distribution network monitoring system was a bespoke solution for the University of Birmingham's Edgbaston site. This operating system was installed in 2001. The operating platform for the installed system is no longer available and any new equipment has moved over to an upgraded Operating system. This means that any further sub-station installations will not be viewed on the present system. In order to upgrade the system we will need to change the C264 units in each sub-station, change the system servers and then reprogram using the latest operating system.

### Procurement Information

The University's present electrical distribution network monitoring system was a bespoke solution for the University of Birmingham Edgbaston site. In order to upgrade the system we will need to change the C264 units in each sub-station, change the system servers and reprogram using the latest operating system. The C264 units are manufactured and installed by Schneider Electric and are not available through any other channels in the UK.
