## Summary

The University of Chester has successfully awarded a contract for the Oxford Medical Simulation (OMS) VR Platform Licenses, a project funded by Health Education England, aimed at improving medical training through innovative virtual reality technology. This procurement process, classified under the goods category as 'industry specific software package', was conducted through a limited procurement method without prior publication. The award of the contract was finalised on 30th March 2022, with a total value of £416,632.50. The main delivery address for the project is within the UK.

This contract presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in virtual reality and medical education technologies. Companies with expertise in developing immersive training platforms or those that can deliver high-quality educational software are well-positioned to compete in future tenders. As the OMS platform is already integrated into medical training, businesses that can enhance or expand upon this technology will likely find a receptive market, especially as virtual reality continues to evolve within the healthcare sector.

The platform provides training to healthcare professionals in a unique and interactive way allowing learners to practice and learn from their mistakes in a way that is safe and supported.
