## Summary

The procurement process for the "Provision of Short Breaks for Achieving for Children CIC (AfC)" by Achieving for Children involves a bidding stage that has now been completed with an award. The procurement falls under the "Health and social work services" industry category and aims to provide short break care services to families in Richmond and Kingston. Achieving for Children, the contracting authority, located in Twickenham, United Kingdom, initiated an open procedure, with the awarded contract signed on 14th July 2022.

This tender opportunity offers potential growth avenues for businesses in the health and social work services sector, particularly those with experience in providing short break care services. As the contract covers universal services for children and young people with disabilities in Richmond and Kingston boroughs, businesses with building-based provision capabilities in these areas are well-suited to compete. The contract values vary for different lots, providing opportunities for SMEs to participate in the provision of weekend, after school, and holiday short breaks.

## Notice

The short break care offer for families in Richmond and Kingston has two elements: specialist or assessed support for children and young people with complex needs; and universal or unassessed services. This procurement is for the universal or unassessed Short Breaks offer. That is to say that this procurement is for commissioned universal services that do not include overnight respite or specialist care. To be eligible for the universal programme, children and young people must have a diagnosed disability, be aged between 4-17, and live in either Richmond or Kingston borough. Children who are eligible for specialist (assessed) short break care can additionally access the universal programme.
