## Summary

The University of Birmingham has recently completed a tender titled "Mini Competition for the Supply and Installation of a Scanning Electron Microscope." This initiative falls under the goods category in the laboratory equipment industry, specifically focusing on scanning electron microscopes. The procurement process adopted was a limited method, inviting suppliers directly without prior publication of a call for competition. The contract was signed on 27th April 2022, with a total value of £300,000. This procurement process took place in Birmingham, UK, and was executed within the framework for High-Value Laboratory Equipment (HVLE).

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in scientific equipment and technology, particularly those that manufacture or supply scanning electron microscopes. Companies that can demonstrate the environmental capability of their products, alongside good spatial resolution and chemical detection abilities, would be particularly well-suited for future tenders of this nature. Given the collaborative nature of such procurements in educational institutions, suppliers who can offer comprehensive after-sales support will also find themselves at a competitive advantage.
