### Procurement Information

A further competition has been issued via an existing framework (procured via Open Procedure) for the supply of gas however due to the current political situation, none of the suppliers on the framework were willing to enter into a fixed price contract. Only two bids were received, neither of which were suitable, by the closing date of 28.02.2022. Due to the extreme and continuing market volatility, suppliers are unwilling to enter into contracts for the foreseeable future. Under the Energy Act (Northern Ireland) 2011, the incumbent suppliers will continue to supply gas to Ards and North Down Borough Council under a Deemed Contract. This arrangement will last until prevailing market conditions allow a new tendering exercise to be undertaken or until 31st March 2023, whichever is soonest.
