## Summary

The latest procurement opportunity concerns Social Security Scotland, which has awarded a contract for the support and maintenance of its Core Benefit Platform (SPM). Classified under the services category, specifically information technology (CPV 72222300), this contract aims to ensure operational efficiency and high performance of the digital systems associated with social benefits. Mphasis UK Limited has been selected as the supplier, with the contract officially signed on 2 April 2026, valued at £35,388,788.96 GBP. This falls under a selective procurement method with the restricted procedure, ensuring competitive bids were considered in the award process. Located in Dundee, Scotland, Social Security Scotland initiated the tender to cater to its evolving digital operations needs.

The procurement process presents ample opportunities for companies specialising in IT service provision, particularly those with capabilities in incident management, defect management, and change management for digital systems like the Core Benefit Platform. With the potential for a contract extension up to 36 months and provisions for additional services, businesses focusing on long-term strategic partnerships and agile service offerings would be well-suited to manage these requirements. Companies with the expertise to support ongoing digital transformation and the ability to adapt to changing service demands will find this procurement an attractive avenue for business growth and expansion in the public sector.

## Notice

The requirement is to meet the needs of Social Security Scotland's digital operations and business needs, ensuring the core benefit platform (SPM) and associated batches remain supported, operational and performant for all the benefits being served by them.

### Procurement Information

The continued provision of services under the current contract is essential to ensure that Social Security Scotland can continue to provide technical support for its core benefit platform (SPM) until a replacement contract can be put in place. A competitive process is underway to identify and put such a replacement in place, by April 2026. The extension of the current term of the contract is considered to be proportionate in the circumstances based on previous experience, and taking into account the need for a contingency to account for potential delays.
