## Summary

Essex County Council is planning to initiate a tender for the provision of short-term emergency regulated mainstream children's residential services for high-needs children under 18. The procurement process, classified under social work and related services, is currently at the planning stage. Expressions of interest are being sought until 5pm on Monday, 11th July 2022, with the contract expected to be in place for 24 months, including break clauses every six months. This service aims to provide crisis response placements until longer-term care arrangements are established and is governed by the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.

This procurement presents an opportunity for businesses specialising in children's care services, particularly those with experience in delivering regulated residential placements. Companies able to meet the quality standards outlined in the aforementioned regulations, such as ensuring appropriately trained staff, will be well-positioned to compete. Moreover, businesses in the social services sector looking to expand their offerings in Essex could leverage this contract to enhance their service delivery and cater to the crucial needs of vulnerable children.
