## Summary

The procurement process for the "Supply of Integrated Non-Contact Optical Measurement System" is led by Swansea University, focusing on the category of laboratory, optical, and precision equipment. This open tender is currently in the award phase, with a contract value of £179,437. The delivery location is specified as the Service Yard at Bay Campus, Swansea University, and the successful supplier is expected to deliver the system by the tight deadline of 31st July 2022, which is also the funding deadline for this project.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses in the optical and precision equipment industry, especially those specialising in non-contact measurement systems and fluid-structure interaction technologies. Companies with expertise in providing high-speed camera systems and integrated optical systems will find this an excellent avenue for growth. Furthermore, businesses that can offer innovative solutions meeting the technical criteria outlined, which prioritise quality and reliability, will be well-positioned to compete for this contract.

## Notice

The funding has a tight expenditure deadline (31st July 2022), so we have published this tender before the funding decision. As such, the tender award will be subject to funding award. An FSI non-contact optical measurement system, capable of volumetric particle image velocimetry, or stereo-DIC and stereo-PIV is sought. A 4-camera system will suffice for most applications in mind. A system that can also make use of our existing high-speed camera equipment is highly desirable (2x Photron Nova S6). Delivery will need to be to the Service Yard at Bay Campus, Swansea University, ideally by the 31st July 2022.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The Department of Biomedical Engineering develops synthetic experimental systems to assess the efficacy of medical devices and implants. Target applications involve studying the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. The interaction of the fluid and solid tissue structure is of great importance to understand the mechanics of that system in health and disease. High-fidelity computational modelling frameworks already exist within the Department. This contract hopes to acquire hardware to enable fluid-structure interaction (FSI) measurements to be performed, to help validate such computational models. Expertise and hardware already exist for non-contact optical techniques such as digital image correlation (DIC), particle image velocimetry (PIV) at low speeds and high-frame rates. However, this contract aims to purchase an all-in-one integrated FSI system to couple DIC and PIV - delivering FSI analysis in one platform.
