Providers that can showcase a strong track record in both theoretical training and practical application will be well-suited to compete for this contract. ## Notice Improvement Cymru wish to deliver a project which uses the lean foundations of the Toyota Production System (TPS), or an equivalent model using the same methodologies as the TPS, to deliver improvements in the first 28 days of the patient journey in three NHS Wales Suspected Cancer Pathways. We have tested the TPS model with the NHS Wales Cancer community via training (including real life observations to consolidate learning) and learner evaluation has been overwhelmingly positive. As a result, we now wish to extend use of this model, or an equivalent model using the same methodologies as the TPS and test it with three Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDT) to determine its usefulness in delivering improvements in practice which reduce variation and increase reliability. A key consideration of any partner will be the ability to adapt learning to cater for an NHS organisation and clinical settings - including outpatients and diagnostic services. We are seeking an expert external partner (preferably an industrial or private sector organisation that uses TPS or an equivalent model to underpin its manufacturing) to support this project. This partner must demonstrate that the TPS/equivalent model underpins the culture of the organisation, and thus will be driven by recognised expertise and practical experience in delivering improvements. The organisation must be able to teach and train the TPS/equivalent model methodology, along with the ability to illustrate the TPS/equivalent model concepts using practical real-time/shop floor learning observations, alongside classroom teaching of these concepts. ### Lot Information Lot 1 This contract comprises four elements: Working with three different MDT's to: 1. Undertake a pre-training 'diagnostic' visit at the site of each MDT to observe the flow of their service firsthand which will enable shared understanding of challenges/opportunities and any tailored focus for subsequent training. 2. Provision of tailored specialist training: a. For maximum 10 learners per MDT. b. That encompasses the knowledge and principles of the Demming System of Profound Knowledge and using the TPS/equivalent model as the methodology. c. Through which MDT members are enabled to identify and minimise any wasted time during the first 28 days of the pathway. d. Which integrates real life observations of TPS/equivalent model in action to consolidate learning. 3. Undertake a post-training 'action orientated' visit to each MDT to determine the status of tests of change and provide support/coaching to help each MDT to effectively apply their learning in practice. 4. Co-facilitate an end of project national shared learning event to capture learning and good practice for spread and scale. The MDT's who will be supported by this work are not yet confirmed, and as such this contract could require support and training to be provided to a team based in any hospital or region of Wales.
