## Summary

The Food Standards Agency is currently engaged in a tender process titled "FS101210 Radioactivity Food Environment (RIFE) Report," aimed at procuring research and development services related to environmental monitoring in the UK. The tender is classified under the CPV code 73000000 and is in the planning stage, with an active status. The contract period is set to commence on 1st April 2023 and conclude on 1st April 2026. Suppliers interested in this opportunity must submit their proposals by 18th August 2022, following a selective procurement method described as a restricted procedure. Responses must be submitted electronically or in written form through the Bravo platform.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the fields of environmental consultancy and research, particularly those with expertise in radioactivity monitoring and assessment. Companies capable of demonstrating strong project management skills are well-suited to compete for this contract, as the successful bidder will be responsible for delivering a project that aligns with the Food Standards Agency's strategic aim to ensure food safety in the UK. Businesses promising innovative approaches and methodologies in managing environmental data could particularly thrive in this competitive bidding process.

## Notice

The environment agencies and the FSA manage an annual monitoring programme, which gathers data on the levels of radioactivity in food, and the environment (RIFE) (air, water, sediment, gamma dose rate, etc.). These, together with the most up to date habits data, are then used to conduct retrospective dose assessments to check that radiation dose to members of the public, as a result of authorised discharges, are within legal limits. The assessment and report are critical to the FSA's strategic aim that food in UK is safe to eat. The contractor (or lead contractor in the case of a consortium bid) should demonstrate an organisational project management culture and individual project management qualifications or equivalent experience such that they can successfully deliver this project on time and budget.
