## Summary

The procurement process, initiated by the Business Services Organisation I T S, involved a tender for the "Maintenance and Support of the NI Colposcopy Computerised Information System," classified under IT services within the healthcare sector. This contract, valued at £267,722.40, was signed on 2nd August 2022 and is currently active. The procurement was executed using a limited method, specifically negotiated without public contract notice, and concerns the delivery of essential services across 12 colposcopy clinics throughout Northern Ireland. This contract is crucial for maintaining the quality and compliance of cervical screening services.

This tender presents significant opportunities for companies involved in IT consultancy and software development, particularly those specialising in healthcare systems. As the colposcopy service in Northern Ireland is reliant on a unique computerised system owned by Axsys Technology LTD, businesses with capabilities in supporting or integrating similar software solutions may find avenues for growth. Organizations able to demonstrate expertise in health IT services, particularly those with a proven track record in collaborative projects within the NHS framework, would be well-positioned to compete for future contracts of this nature.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The purpose of colposcopy is the prevention of cervical cancer through the early detection and treatment of precancerous lesions (CIN). The colposcopy service in Northern Ireland provides care for women with abnormal cervical smears and related conditions. Colposcopy is critical in the prevention of cervical cancer for women at risk. Currently there are 12 Colposcopy Clinics throughout Northern Ireland within the 5 Trusts using the Excelicare Colposcopy Information System to ensure Quality Assurance of the colposcopy element of the Northern Ireland Cervical Screening Programme. The delivery of the Regional Computerised Colposcopy System for cervical screening allows the Northern Ireland colposcopy service to be quality assured, meet the requirements of clinical governance and assess the performance and workloads of colposcopy clinics. The system also standardises the collection of data and ensures that data collected from each of the NI colposcopy clinics is used to provide NHS Cervical Screening Programme minimum data requirements to enable the completion of the KC65 return. Data extracted from the Regional Computerised Colposcopy Information System allows consultants to produce recertification audit documentation required for submission to the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP). Data is also provided from the system to support the regional audit of invasive cervical cancer and support documentation is provided to facilitate multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
