## Summary

The public procurement contracting process was initiated by TRANSPENNINE EXPRESS LIMITED for the project titled "MTIS and TOM's" in the services industry category, focused on extending an existing contract for ticket issuing systems in the United Kingdom. The procurement stage was an award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition. The contracting authority, TRANSPENNINE EXPRESS LIMITED, based in London, awarded the contract to Fujitsu Systems Limited on 25th August 2022 for a total value of £2,023,600.

This tender offers business growth opportunities for companies specialised in transportation services, particularly railway transport services, looking to provide ticket issuing systems. The contract extension for a period of 2 years serves as an interim solution whilst future procurement processes are defined. Companies with expertise in system resilience, affordability, and business continuity are well-suited to compete, as the focus is on providing sustainable solutions that ensure minimal disruption and additional costs for the contracting organisation.

## Notice

It is our intention to undertake an extension and variation to an existing contract. The contract variation is for the extension of existing provision of ticket issuing systems for both mobile and ticket office systems for a period of 2 years. Such extension and variation will provide an interim solution pending review and definition of the required longer term strategy and subsequent procurement process.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

Extension of Contract for the provision of Ticket Issuing Machines for a period of 2 years.

### Procurement Information

Due to a number of factors not least industry reform, business continuity and system resilience, affordability and minimization of change impact, this contract award and extension is deemed to be the optimal approach to provide a sustainable solution for the period concerned as it is clear that any change in contracting partner at this juncture would cause significant inconvenience and substantial duplication of costs. Such award and extension allows for continuation of services to support business continuity at a lower cost with minimal relative additional cost of implementation. It is understood that this is an interim solution for a period of 2 years pending further review which will take into account influencing factors impacting future solutions and any activity thereafter will also be in accordance with the regulations with respect to prior publication.
