## Summary

The United Kingdom's Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) is planning a tender for the "National Nature Reserves (Natural England) x 9 Major Build Programme." This construction project aims to upgrade nine National Nature Reserve bases across England to enhance operational capabilities and foster a deeper connection with nature. The projects encompass a mix of new build schemes, refurbishments, and a combination of both, spread across various locations in England. The total value of the project is £20 million, with individual construction values ranging from £1-5 million. Interested main contractors must submit responses to the questionnaire by 14th October 2022, with a completion target between 2023-2025, subject to planning and funding.

This tender presents opportunities for construction firms specialising in sustainable buildings and associated works. Successful bidders will need expertise in areas such as fit-out, services, drainage, access tracks/roads, and landscaping. The projects aim to achieve high BREEAM ratings, with a focus on sustainability. The procurement process follows a traditional route and will be managed under NEC4 ECC contracts. Businesses with experience in construction of educational and research buildings will find these projects particularly well-suited for growth and development.

## Notice

Natural England (NE) wish to upgrade nine of their National Nature Reserve (NNR) bases across England to improve their operational capability and allow them to connect more people with nature. Nine independent projects are currently in varying stages of concept design. There are currently 5 new build schemes, 1 refurbishment scheme, and 3 with an element of both. These are located across England. The majority of the new build elements are based on a modular design, though two are likely to be traditional blockwork. The intention of this PIN is to identify suitable main contractors who are interested in tendering for individual projects, packages of projects or all of the projects. Please email Stuart.Walters@Defra.gov.uk for the PIN/Questionnaire. Responses to the questionnaire have a deadline of the 14th October 2022.
