The da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgery System was procured by Cardiff and Vale UHB in 2014 and at the time was the most advanced robotic surgery system in the world. The robot is a critical piece of equipment that uses a minimally invasive surgical approach, the introduction of which was a major step towards transforming cancer service within Wales. This pioneering service ensures that treatment for Welsh patients with operable tumours will be revolutionised as they will have access to the most advanced, up to date and innovative cancer treatments in multiple cancer specialties.
