## Summary

The University of Edinburgh has completed a procurement process titled "EC0969 - Clinical Vet Student Experience" in the services category, specifically for veterinary services. The procurement stage was cancelled and the contracting authority, the University of Edinburgh, located in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, awarded the contract to Inglis Veterinary Centres. The procurement method used was an open procedure, with the main business objectives focused on providing clinical placements for undergraduate students at a veterinary practice.

This tender presents an opportunity for businesses in the veterinary services industry to participate in providing structured clinical rotations for veterinary students. Businesses well-suited to compete would need to have expertise in clinical vet practice for small animals and a focus on educational value. The University of Edinburgh, as the contracting authority, aims to enhance the student experience through this procurement process and has awarded the contract to Inglis Veterinary Centres, an SME supplier based in Dunfermline, United Kingdom.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The main business objectives are: (i).To provide clinical placements for small groups of students at the Practice, each group to be stationed at the Practice premises for a period of 1 week (5 days ) for core rotations and 2 weeks (10 days) for selective rotations. Students will be expected to spend the majority of their time on clinical activities with the veterinary staff of the Practice. Veterinary staff will ensure that students are actively involved in clinical procedures and that the educational value from each case is maximised through full explanation and open discussion as well as ensuring that students are given a significant level of case responsibility. It is recognised that case load in Vet practice can be unpredictable. Although there is no requirement for Practice staff to provide scheduled didactic tutorials, it is expected that when case load is low, students on the placement will either be engaged in tutorials or employed under guidance in an educationally valid way. This might include, among other activities, communications with clients, appropriate maintenance of equipment, or assisting in the preparation of invoices or reports. (ii). Consultation and caseload experience The university expects the following range of activities to be covered during the student placements: Consultation times minimum 20 minutes (ideally 30 mins or longer) Canine Consultation per week min of 30 Feline consultations per week min of 10 Other species consultations per week min of 10 Potential surgical procedures per week min of 10
