## Summary

The Reading Borough Council recently completed a procurement process for the provision of Community Transport and Dial-a-Ride services. The contract, titled Community Transport Service: Dial-a-Ride and Adult Social Care Transport, falls under the services category and aims to provide transport for people with various care needs for an initial term of 3 years, extendable for another 3 years. The procurement stage was an open tender, with RBC as the buying organisation. The total budget for the contract is £1.35 million, potentially increasing to £2.25 million if the extension option is utilised.

This tender presents an opportunity for businesses in the transportation and care service industries to participate. Companies offering bus and coach hire services with a focus on social care transport would be well-suited to compete. As the contract includes service quality criteria alongside price considerations, businesses emphasising service delivery, staff resources, vehicle resources, and social value may have a competitive advantage. Interested businesses should note the closing date for tenders and engage with Reading Borough Council for further information on bidding requirements.
