## Summary

The University of Exeter has awarded a contract to Invicro LLC for the provision of PET and MRI scanning services, radioligand production, and biomarker analysis. This award, made through a limited procurement method, involves the use of PET-MR scanners for research studies in the field of medical solutions. The contract, valued at £1,883,380.00 GBP, was signed on 13th October 2022. Invicro LLC's unique capabilities in producing short half-life tracers, hosting cyclotrons on-site, and their location within the Hammersmith Hospital Campus in London, allow them to be the sole provider for this specialised service.

This contracting process presents a unique business opportunity for companies involved in medical imaging and radiopharmaceutical production. Businesses with expertise in providing PET and MRI imaging facilities, developing radiotracers, and conducting biomarker analysis would be well-suited to compete for similar future tenders. Given the specific requirements of this contract, which involve the in-house production of radiopharmaceuticals with short half-lives, only organisations with advanced imaging capabilities and research facilities are likely to meet the necessary criteria for participation in such procurement processes.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

PET and MRI scanning, radioligand production, and biomarker analysis * Only UK provider of PET tracers [11C]BU90008, [11C]SA4503, and [18F]BCPP-EF, that are currently used for our studies. * Invicro is located within the Hammersmith Hospital Campus, its location accommodates research participants for image and clinical assessments without increased burden and travel for the participants. While also reducing cost and time to conduct the studies. * [11C] tracers (with short half-life of about 20 minutes) and of [18F] radiotracers (with half-life of about 120 minutes) are produced in house and the short half-life of the [11C] tracers means Invicro's two in-house cyclotron's must be used. Their radioligand development platform means implementation of new tracers is not available at other facilities. * Invicro has the equipment and facilities to collect arterial blood samples during the scans and analyze the quantity of the radioactive metabolites on site.

### Procurement Information

The research conducted by the Neurodegeneration Imaging Group requires the use of [11C] radiopharmaceutical, as well as an imaging facility that can provide PET-MR scanners with accompanying arterial line capabilities. Due to the very short half-life of the the [11C] tracers, these research studies are limited to facilities that have an in-house cyclotron. Imanova, trading as Invicro, not only has the in-house production of the [11C] tracers, which have a short half-life of approximately 20 minutes and the [18F] radiotracers with a half-life of approximately 120 minutes, they also host two cyclotrons on site. This coupled with the research facility's location in London, where participants who are participating in the study have clinics has resulted in, for technical reasons, only Invicro being able to provide the tracers and in-house service to deliver the research outputs at present.
