## Summary

The procurement process outlined pertains to the "GIS Programme - Regional Supplier Contract - Bucks, Herts and East of Berks," managed by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. This contract falls under the telecommunications services category and is particularly focused on the Bucks region, with services also extending to Herts and East of Berks. The procurement stage is currently in the award and contract update phase, with the latest significant update dated 4th June 2026. The project is targeted to commence on 9th January 2024 and culminate by 1st March 2034. The process operates under a tender initiation type, employing a structured approach through a restricted procedure, ensuring a selective procurement method is in place. The entire contract is structured into three main stages lasting up to nine years, incorporating design, build, and monitoring phases.

This tender offers substantial business growth opportunities, particularly for companies with expertise in telecommunications infrastructure, such as CityFibre Limited, which is already a key supplier involved. The demand for gigabit-capable broadband infrastructure opens a competitive landscape for businesses capable of providing sustainable telecommunications solutions. With a significant investment exceeding £50 million, the opportunity favours larger enterprises with the capacity to undertake extensive infrastructure projects, although SMEs with specialised capabilities in network deployment may find specific niches within this contract. The procurement aligns with the UK's strategic goal to enhance digital connectivity, providing a long-term investment opportunity in underserved regions.

## Notice

This procurement is for the award of a Regional Supplier Contract in the Bucks, Herts and East of Berks region. This is part of the Gigabit Infrastructure Subsidy programme.

The Gigabit Infrastructure Subsidy programme is a government programme
aimed to support the build of gigabit-capable broadband infrastructure in the areas of the UK which are unlikely to attract commercial investment for gigabit-capable broadband infrastructure within a reasonable timeframe, if at all, referred to as the final 20% (f20). Building Digital UK (BDUK, an Executive agency of DCMS) will be targeting its market intervention in these areas of the
UK via this subsidy award programme, to subsidise the build of gigabit-capable
networks providing long-term, sustainable availability of wholesale gigabit broadband services in the hardest to reach parts of the UK. The Gigabit Infrastructure Subsidy programme builds on the success of existing programmes being delivered by BDUK to deliver gigabit-capable networks across the UK. It is envisaged this programme will last for up to 9 years and award contracts throughout that period.
