## Summary

The NHS Litigation Authority, located in London, United Kingdom, is planning a tender process for the provision of mortality screening services (NHSR_134 Proof of Life Services). The procurement falls under the services category and aims to enhance the claims management function of NHS Resolution by confirming an ongoing entitlement to periodical payments. The tender, with a value of GBP 20,000, is currently at the planning stage, and suppliers are invited to participate in scoping enquiries through a series of questions to understand the market offering.

This tender by the NHS Litigation Authority presents an opportunity for businesses involved in research and development services, data collection, and data capture services to engage with a public sector buyer. Suppliers capable of providing mortality screening services aligning with NHS requirements are encouraged to respond to the scoping enquiries indicated in the tender document. The future notice date for this tender is set for 3rd April 2023, with more information available on the atypical tool URL provided by the authority.

## Notice

As part of our claims management function, NHS Resolution can agree to pay claims for compensation on a periodical basis for the duration of the claimant's lifetime. We currently have approximately 2,500 periodical payment cases and this number is likely to increase each year. Majority of these cases are paid annually in December. Approximately 15% (30 - 40 a month), are paid at various other points in the year depending on the terms of the settlement agreement. The liability to make payments ceases upon the death of the claimant.

We are currently considering procuring a mortality screening service to add to our processes for confirming an ongoing entitlement to a periodical payment.
