## Summary

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) recently awarded a contract for the On-Call Staff Rostering System to Gartan Technologies Ltd. The procurement process, initiated as a tender, aimed to secure maintenance services for the operational employees spread throughout Scotland. The award followed a limited procurement method without prior publication, with a contract value of £400,000 signed on January 27, 2023. The buying organisation, SFRS based in Cambuslang, United Kingdom, highlighted the importance of the roster management system in ensuring operational efficiency.

This tender for the On-Call Staff Rostering System maintenance offers opportunities for businesses providing software support services to compete. The key focus is on maintaining operational effectiveness by ensuring the appropriate staffing levels for emergency response activities. Companies specialising in software support services, particularly SMEs, could benefit from future tenders related to system support and maintenance. The procurement stage, which concluded with an award to Gartan Technologies Ltd, underscores the critical role played by the procurement process in supporting public safety initiatives in Scotland.
