## Summary

The Kent County Council has initiated a tender process, titled "SC23005 - Bikeability Training," in the services category. The council aims to award 8 contracts for the delivery of Bikeability Training in schools across Kent. This initiative aligns with Active Travel England's goal of increasing walking and cycling journeys by 2030. The tender involves multiple lots geographically grouped within Kent, each offering a 360-day contract period. The submission deadline for this tender is on 27th March 2023, with the bid opening and award period also scheduled for the same date.

This tender by Kent County Council presents opportunities for businesses in the education and training services sector, particularly those experienced in providing cycling training to schools. Businesses capable of delivering Bikeability Training to schools in Kent's designated regions can benefit from this procurement process. As an open procedure with electronic submission requirements, this tender allows interested businesses to engage with the council through the Kent Business Portal. By participating in this procurement, businesses can contribute to promoting active travel and safe cycling practices among school children, in line with Active Travel England's objectives.

## Notice

Kent County Council is seeking to award 8 contracts for the delivery of Bikeability Training in schools across Kent. Bikeability is the nationally approved Cycle training scheme, which is predominantly aimed at school children and offered in every local Council area across England. The delivery of this training has, for many years, been subsidised by a Deptartment for Transport (DfT) grant, which was allocated to local authorities and School sports partnerships (SGOs). Bikeability, along with all other DfT Active Travel investment, is now part of the Active Travel England (ATE) portfolio. ATE's long term aim is for half of all journeys to towns and cities to be walked or cycled by 2030. ATE remit, and direction, is clearly to support local councils in their active travel ambition and delivery, including training children and adults to cycle safely, and cycle more.
