## Summary

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has initiated a tender for the supply of security equipment, which is now in the contract award stage. This procurement process, classified under the security equipment category (CPV 35121000), involves supplying dual-lotted security equipment to His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) across various regions in the UK, including UKC, UKD, UKE, UKF, UKG, UKH, UKI, UKJ, UKK, and UKL. The procurement followed an open procedure method, covered by the GPA (General Procurement Agreement), and reached the contract award phase with an active status as of 29th January 2025. The total contracted amount is £2,470,000, and the award has been given to a supplier identified by the ID GB-FTS-1547. The tender for radio frequency detection apparatus is still in the planning stage, with specific emphasis on engaging the market to explore future opportunities for passive radio frequency signal detection equipment. An early engagement day was held on 6th April 2023 in Leeds to discuss these opportunities, marking a critical step in developing next-generation capabilities for the MoJ.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for companies involved in the manufacturing and supply of security and electronic detection equipment. The substantial contract value and the focus on innovative security solutions make it particularly attractive for businesses aiming to expand their footprint in the public safety and security sectors. Enterprises with expertise in wireless logging devices, locating equipment, and Wi-Fi detection tools, especially those capable of adapting to MoJ’s unique requirements, such as directional antenna capabilities for indoor usage, will find themselves well-suited to compete. Engaging with these tenders, notably those leveraging software-defined radio technologies, can provide avenues for business growth and the development of cutting-edge security solutions.
