## Summary

The Highland Council has completed a procurement process for the "Managed Print Service" under the industry category of office and computing machinery, excluding furniture and software packages. The contract, awarded to Xeretec Scotland Ltd, focuses on delivering managed print services across various Council facilities in the Highland Council area, including offices, schools, and other sites. The contract, with a value of £2,929,000, was formally signed on 1st March 2023 and will run for a period of 7 years, beginning with significant device reduction efforts within the next six months. The procurement was managed without a call for competition due to the technical specificity and lack of competition, aligning with specific regulatory allowances for procurement modifications under unforeseen circumstances and non-substantial variations.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in the supply, installation, and maintenance of multi-functional devices (MFDs) and associated consumables. Companies offering detailed financial billing data on a cost-per-page (CPP) basis, which allows effective re-charging of services, would particularly benefit. Businesses specialising in managing and reducing the number of print devices, adapting to new models and ensuring sustainability without risking service continuity, are ideally suited to compete. This contract emphasizes the transition to a hybrid work model and demands innovative solutions to accommodate changing print needs post-COVID. The collaborative approach with such a large and prominent regional authority can enhance business growth and market presence, especially for those capable of technical flexibility and sustainable practices.
