## Summary

The recent procurement processes led by public sector buyers have seen significant growth, demonstrating opportunities in the UK for the occupational health services sector. A notable contract, awarded by the London Borough of Merton, focused on providing Occupational Health Services (OHS), valued at substantial figures with Health Partners Group Limited emerging as the successful supplier. This contracting process, reflective of the services category under the CPV code 75122000 for administrative healthcare services, followed an open procedure and reached the award stage most recently in May 2025. Meanwhile, the ESPO framework agreement, offering a comprehensive range of health services, welcomes participation from public bodies across the UK under the central purchasing model. This framework, labelled 985B_23, not only encompasses general occupational health services but also caters for Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP), under the CPV classification 85100000, ensuring an extensive coverage in administrative healthcare services. Both procurement exercises illustrate the keen interest and investment in supporting employee wellness and compliance with healthcare legislation, thereby establishing solid platforms for service providers aiming to engage with public sector demands.

These procurement activities present fertile grounds for small to medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as larger organisations seeking to expand within the public sector. For instance, ESPO's framework, active since mid-2023, is structured to incorporate diverse service providers, thereby facilitating new bid opportunities and entry into a broader market, with significant emphasis on service quality and social value contributions. Companies specialising in health assessments, employee wellbeing, and assistance programs stand to benefit from engaging with these contracts. Thus, agencies adept at delivering comprehensive health services, pre-employment health checks, and digital health solutions are well-suited to compete, capitalising on the vast network of public entities within the UK aiming to promote improved workplace health and safety standards. The successful navigation of such public procurement channels could significantly bolster a company's client base and fortify its presence within the public healthcare service sector.
