Lot 1

This service is a critical service for the collection of kerbside recyclables and food waste from 58,000 households on a weekly basis. Additional information: The extension is required to ensure continuity of service and to allow time to conduct a feasibility study in relation to the future operational format of this service.

### Procurement Information

This Direct Award is to cover the extension on an existing contract with this supplier for up to a further 12 months to allow the Council to consider the strategic direction for this service whilst ensuring service continuity. A recent pre-market engagement carried out clearly indicated that there is no supplier currently available with the capacity or capability to mobilise and deliver this service on a short-term basis (i.e. up to 12 months). A further open tender competition will then be carried out to cover a longer service period e.g. 5 to 7 years (to be confirmed).
